Veneers are very thin pieces of porcelain that are used in dentistry to enhance a patient’s smile and/or appearance. These porcelain restorations are custom made for each individual tooth, to the dentist’s strict guidelines, by a dental laboratory. Each individual veneer is then bonded onto the front of the tooth. The result are teeth reflected in a new, beautiful smile.
Indications for Veneers:
Esthetic enhancement of the smile
Improvement of significantly stained teeth
Improvement of malpositioned teeth; including rotated, crowded, or excessively spaced teeth
Improvement in the appearance of congenitally small or defected teeth
Most cases involving veneers will require some preparation of the tooth and the need for temporary veneers while the final veneers are being fabricated.
As with all dental restorations, porcelain veneers are not permanent and may need to be replaced at some time. Veneers are an excellent way for a patient to improve one’s smile.
